Hi! I’m Andrea, the lady behind Andrea Stephens Photography... I have two amazing, adventurous boys that I'm forever taking photos of. I am an artist and trained primary school teacher, and both of these passions contribute to my obsession with telling stories through my camera. I’m in my happy place outdoors and in nature. If I’m not in front of a screen editing your photos, I’ve either gone bush or am floating on a board in the ocean—with my wee family of course! I value good friends, great conversation and a decent tune to dance to. So if you dig that and think we’d make a great team, I’d love to meet with you and you can see if you vibe with me. If you think the packages available don’t quite cut the mustard, here’s some extras you can add to your packages for some extra spunk.

Second shooter

A second shooter is available at a minimum of 6 hours at $800. If you are wanting a second shooter for a full 8 hour day it is an extra $1200.

Additional hours

8 hours is usually ideal to cover all the key moments of your day. However additional hours to your wedding day are available at $400 an hour.

Travel costs

If I am travelling outside the Bay of Plenty region for your wedding I will need to cover travel and accommodation costs. Each scenario is different depending on whether I need to cover accommodation costs for more than one night, or book flights and a rental car.

Engagement session

I offer 2 hour engagement sessions to break the ice before your wedding day. They're a great way to become familiar with myself and to get used to being in front of the camera. Then you can use the photos to announce your engagement to your nearest and dearest! I like to find amazing locations for this so be prepared for an adventure!


If you are based outside of the Bay of Plenty I do need to charge travel costs to cover my expenses.


I base my travel costs off the IRD website recommendations of 87 cents per kilometre. This is to basically cover fuel costs.


If I am driving over 2 hours away I do need to cover one nights accommodation and travel costs. I charge a fee of $400 for this.


If I am driving over 3 hours away I do need to cover two nights accommodation and travel costs. I charge a fee of $600 for this.


If I am flying I need to cover 2 nights accommodation, rental car, parking fees and flights. I charge a flat fee of $850.

What is your approach?

My approach is candid, documentary and raw.

You'll see my work captures connection, little moments of love and fly on the wall doco type photos. Every story is different and I love being there to document it. I do give direction when needed, and I'm there the whole time to add guidance when you feel unsure.

The experience is just as important as the finished product so this is how I approach each session.

Do you travel?

I do! I love going on adventures. Tell me all about it in the contact form and we can make some magic together!

Will there be a second shooter?

I'm completely confident I can capture your day on my own, however there are some benefits to having a second shooter. You can choose this as an 'add on' when booking your wedding.

What if it's raining?

Wedding days and rain do happen. The best thing is to be prepared so if it does you're not stressed. You can still get epic photos on a rainy day! I carry enough clear umbrellas for the bridal party. If you are booked for a portrait session we would look at rescheduling if it's sideways rain!

How much do you edit your photos?

Great question! I’d say 70% of the way my photos look comes down to the way I edit my photos. Each photo receives basic colour correction, cropping, adjustment for lighting etc. These corrections all contribute to the vibe you see in my portfolio.

What happens before the wedding?

We have a big yarn about your plans and how I can best serve you as your photographer on your big day. I keep in touch leading up to the wedding and send out an online form to fill out with all the big details of your day. I then call you if you need help with finding vendors, planning your timeline, giving advice on lighting, anything wedding related I'm here for it and happy to help!

What happens on my wedding day?!

I turn up when you want me to start and as soon as I'm there I'm documenting it all. You can trust me to capture all those little moments in between, be a time keeper, keep everyone on the same page, add in some lols and genuinely be present for you so your day runs smoothly and is the absolute best bloody day ever. The most important element of your day to me is you being comfortable and enjoying it all.

What happens after the wedding?

After the wedding I whip up a sneak peek of up to 100 images in an online gallery with the highlights of your day to share with family and friends. In peak season your full gallery can take up to 10 weeks to be delivered in an online gallery and a beautiful box of around 30 prints.

How do I print photos, order magazines or albums?

I have a link on my website on my homepage for this. I am more than happy to talk you through this process to make it as seamless and easy as possible.

AMAZING! I can’t WAIT to get to know you both and I’m so thrilled you’ve chosen me. To book I require a signed contract and a third of the total bill as a retainer. Dates cannot be reserved until these have been received.
